International Speech and Table Topics Contest, 2016!

Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club has a history of producing great speakers. However, some of the best among them step up to battle each other during the International Speech and Table Topics Contests. This year, the contest was doubly special. The reason was that the pool of contestants had a heady mix of first-time speakers as well as veteran speakers. This led to a high level of excitement and anticipation among the crowd. True to expectations, the speeches were spectacular: each and every speaker lived up to the reputation of being a member of Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club.

Organizing Chair Law Jia Hong and Co-organizing Chair Mohanpariya along with Contest Chair Naveena Methani as well as their team of timers, tally counters, chief judge and team of judges did a fantastic job in making sure that everything was perfect. However, let me not hold the anticipation and come to the crux of the matter: the contest per se!

The speakers competing in the International Speech Contest were as follows:

6. Joe Wan

7. Ng Kin Foong

8. Arjun Chakrabarti

9. Vidhi Sarkar

Each and every speaker delivered a high dose of energy, laughter and excitement. Some even made the crowd shed tears. I shall not try to get into the content of the speeches because the written word is not enough to make us relive the moments that enjoyed live.

The speakers competing in the Table Topics Contest were as follows:

3. Jaric Ng

4. Kapil Pareek

5. Hyder Muhammad Taufik

6. Ng Kin Foong

7. Arjun Chakrabarti

Table Topics was a mixture of seriousness and fun depending upon the speakers mood on stage.

First Place: Arjun Chakrabarti

First Runner Up: Ng Kin Foong

Second Runner Up: Hyder Muhammad Taufik

The contest was followed by the usual practice of club members to enjoy the evening. Therefore the Executive Committee had planned to hold the March bonding activity on the same day. Please feel free to read about it in the next post.
