Introducing Vice-President, Public Relations –II: Lau Kheng Soon

Greetings of the day, dear reader! Let me introduce to you today the second Vice President of Public Relations, Mr. Lau Kheng Soon. Kheng Soon is no stranger to the Executive Committee. In fact, he was a member of the outgoing Executive Committee as well, having served as the Sergeant-At-Arms. This term, Kheng Soon has decided to continue serving Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club in an Executive Committee role. In addition, Kheng Soon will carry forward his experience from having served in the earlier Executive Committee and help the current committee achieve even greater success.

Kheng Soon has been in the toastmasters circuit for a few years. However, in addition to his quality speeches, Kheng Soon is equally famous among the Singapore toastmasters circuit for his photography skills. Visitors to several speech contests as well as club installations often spot him running around, capturing every moment on film so that he can reproduce the moments and help his fellow toastmasters relive the memories.

Kheng Soon is an engineer by profession. His hobbies, as you have correctly guessed by now, are toastmasters and photography. As an icing on the cake, Kheng Soon is a devout family man and a proud father!

Presented below is a short interview with Kheng Soon about his decision of continuing in the Executive Committee:

1. Why did you join the Executive Committee?

My reason for joining the Executive Committee of Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club remains the same as it was last year – Contribute wholeheartedly to the club that has helped me improve my communication and leadership capabilities. 

2. What do you want to gain personally from your role in the Executive Committee?

The Executive Committee is responsible for the execution of our club activities including club meetings, growth of membership, progress of education, organization of contests, etc. By being actively involved in these activities, I plan to improve my leadership, communication and presentation skills.

3. How do you plan to help the club through your role?

Proper conduct of the above mentioned club activities involve thorough understanding of the working of the club combined with sheer dedication on the part of the members. For my part, I plan to contribute ideas as and when they come and also help in their execution. In addition, as Vice-President of Public Relations, I plan to promote our club activities among members and non-members alike. I also plan to use my photography skills in capturing special moments of both Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club as well as several other clubs in the toastmasters circuit.
