Warm welcome, dear readers, to the Executive Committee Introduction
Series of Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club. Today we present to you the
Immediate Past President of Our Club, Mr. Ng Kin Foong.
Kin Foong has been in the toastmasters circuit for the past
few years and has grown to be a very powerful speaker. He is known for
excellent eloquence, fantastic vocal variety and pace control. In addition, his
speeches are laced with entertainment that hold the readers’ attention and
send them home with important messages and learning.
Kin Foong is an example of a leader who demonstrates by
doing. During his terms as Club President, Kin Foong has further strengthened
the already strong family spirit in Tampines Changkat
Toastmasters Club. In
addition, he has personally contributed to the growth of each and every speaker
by going and providing evaluations separately even if he was not a designated
project evaluator for that speaker. During his term, members have experienced tremendous
growth and new members have also gone on to represent the club in Area and
Division contests.
Kin Foong is a successful businessman handling different
companies. He is also trains people on how to speak. However, his busy schedule
does not deter him from upholding his office as Club President. He is known to have attended a club meeting on the day that his car had an accident. Despite his busy schedule and his commitment towards
his club members, Kin Foong has also continued his own growth at a rapid pace,
having attained a triple crown this term.
It is a privilege of the incoming Executive Committee to
have Ng Kin Foong provide them his experience and advice as Immediate Past President.
Presented below is a short interview with Kin Foong about
his decision in serving Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club:
1. Why did you join the Executive
Committee?
I wanted to grow as a
leader as well as be of service to the club that I love. Time management is
something that I wanted to get, so I took on the role of Vice-President Education
and then Club President, despite a taxing schedule, to see how I can manage my
time better.
2. What do you
want to gain personally from your role in the Executive Committee?
I experience life fully when I know that I am
being of service, empowering and serving people around me. I get immense
satisfaction when my fellow club members gain skills, knowledge, or confidence on
being bigger and more powerful people.
3. How do you
plan to help the club through your role?
I shall bring my
experience to the current Executive Committee team, to help them through challenges that they
may face in their roles. I shall also mentor members and conduct educational
segments to help them level up their speaking skills.
4. Any
other thought you want to convey?
Being of service to the
club for the past 2 years has given me many memories and lots of training in
public speaking and leadership. For those who are looking for how to grow as an
individual in leadership and communication, joining the Executive Committee where a great
leadership team can mentor you is a great chance to grow and serve at the same
time.
