Introducing Club President: Gladys Tye

Greetings, dear readers! Today we shall introduce to you the captain of the incoming Executive Committee, the jewel of the crown, Club President Gladys Tye!

Gladys is one of the most charismatic and effective speakers of Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club who keeps the audience in awe with her angelic charm while delivering messages full of substance and gravity. In addition, Gladys is also famous for being one of the most responsible members of the club. During her three month stint in Hawaii as part of her work responsibilities, Gladys continued her toastmasters journey in a club in Hawaii. In addition, she kept continuing her duties as Vice-President Education with the help of our very own Joe Wan (incoming Vice-President Education).

Having served in the executive committee for two consecutive years as the Club Secretary & Vice-President Education, Gladys is now embarking on a new journey to serve as the Club President.

Nothing excites her more than new experiences and challenges that push her out of her comfort zone. She believes that happiness lies in finding pleasure and purpose in everyday life. She strives to seek happiness in the present moment and invest in her body, mind and soul. She jogs, swims and is always on a lookout for fun ways to sweat it out. She enjoys reading books and attending personal development courses to expand her mind. She enjoys her time with friends as much as her 'me' time for reflection to nourish her soul.

We had a quick chat with Gladys on why she decided to take on the role of Club President. Here is what she said:

1.      Why join the Executive Committee?

I joined the Executive Committee two years ago with the intention of serving the club that has helped me achieved many breakthroughs in life. Every role requires a different skill set and by taking up the role as the Club Secretary and Vice-president of Education, my listening and organizational skills have improved leaps and bounds. This term, I decided to take up the challenge by taking up the role as the incoming club president.

2.      What do you intend to gain from your role?

There is no better way to develop one's leadership skills then to lead in a volunteer organization where one is stripped off one’s title and authority. I envision being a leader who serves members with passion and purpose.

3.      How do you plan to help the club through your role?

My personal goal for the term is to make Tampines Changkat Toastmasters the Club of Choice. A club that is known for its vibrant, exciting and positive energy. A club where members can express themselves freely, achieve breakthroughs in their lives and care for one another as a family. A club that collaborates with other clubs to create opportunities for members to venture and discover new ways of delivering speeches or handling an appointment role. A club that caters to members' educational needs and beyond. My focus is on teamwork and synergy. We have a team of dedicated Executive Committee members who will work closely to make that happen.
4.      Do you have any other message for our members?

Look forward to a new term filled with refreshed educational workshops, exciting overseas retreat & convention and more club gatherings.

Keep coming back to this page, dear readers, for further updates on our incoming Exective Committee!
