An awesome chapter meeting 18 Oct 12

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Have you ever looked enviously at successful people wondered why they are successful?

Have you ever wondered if successful people are successful just at a snap of a finger?

As our Vice-President of Education, rolled out the program sheet a day ago, I took the opportunity to reminisce the chapter that happened on the 18th.

Why was it significant?

Because as per our club president, Ted Chong delivered in his opening address:
Success takes hard work,
Success in public speaking takes hard work,
Success in toastmasters takes hard work.

The protagonist of his opening address was our local public speaking legend, prodigy and entrepreneur, Eric Feng started out in toastmasters as well. As a toastmaster, he was hungry, hungry for stage time, stage time, stage time. At one point, he was even speaking nearly 365 days a year, either as a speaker, or as an evaluator!!!

Speaking at toastmasters is a platform to one's success, and its such a privilege to speak, and its ridiculous that that there are actually people who reject the platform when offered!!! Can you believe it?

However this is not the case for the following speakers: Jaspreet, MingJian, Peter and Luan Eng, they took the stage and from the looks of it relished every single moment.

Our evaluators added much value to our meeting as well with their acute observations. Thank you, Run Bin, SweeTiong , Zhuo Jun, Yours Truly, Kim Heng and Andrew!

Ronny, as a rookie table topic masters, you were awesome. So are the other appointment holders like: Linda, Jane, Richard, Virginia, Thank you for helping the meeting run like clock work!

Until the 01 Nov 2012, enjoy the photos taken!

Tampines Changkat TMC Chapter Meeting - 18 October 2012

Words have incredible power. They can make people's hearts soar, or they can make people's hearts sore.
If you want the ability to organise your speeches soar, then the place to be this Thursday is Tampines Changkat TMC.
We have 3 speakers who will each in his/her own way show us how they would organise their speeches (Project 2).
Then there is another member embarking on the CC journey a second time around to further fine tune her speaking skills.
So be there for an evening of great speeches, great evaluators and a maiden attempt at the role of table topics master by our newest addition Ronnie Wang.

We also have the pleasure of listening to a speech by an invited project speaker, a charming young lady. Boys don't get ideas!!

(Chapter meeting starts promptly at 7.30pm, please come early at 7pm for dinner so that we can end on time. Your punctuality is greatly appreciated!)

Chapter Meeting 18 Oct 2012 - Meeting Roles

Ladies and gentlemen,
The founder members of Tampines Changkat and our predecessors have painstakingly created and developed one of the best toastmaster clubs in Singapore and handed it to us for us to be the torchbearers of the club’s journey forward.
While the Exco is appointed to lead and provide a sense of direction to the club, nothing would be achieved without close support and a shared vision of the members.  A club is only as great as its members. While the Exco and senior members endeavour to come forward to organise great chapter meetings, it is unlikely they will be very successful without support from the members.
Guests from the public and from other clubs who have visited us find it a great place to be and word seems to be circulating in the toastmasters circle about the level of energy and enthusiasm that Tampines Changkat TMC radiates.
As we all have our myriad of commitments outside of toastmasters, we do sometimes have to rely on members who can afford a little more commitment in terms of time to come a little earlier to assist in setting up the venue and prepare for meetings. It is not a very pleasant sight to see our invited guests having to set up the meeting venue for us.
We have often heard that a picture is worth a thousand words and seeing is believing. But when it comes to becoming a better speaker, a better leader, a better organiser, and a better person, that is furthest from the truth. For all these to happen, we have to be doers rather than seers and doing in toastmasters would include speaking, evaluating and holding the various meeting roles and to accelerate development, even going out to other clubs to speak and take on meeting roles.
No role is too big or too small as each and every role provides a benefit of its own and members are urged to come forward to take on meeting roles to enable us to have successful and effective meetings.  Members are also urged to be amply prepared to handle their assigned roles and if there is anything that they feel unsure about, they can freely approach any of the Exco or senior members for assistance and advice and they would be more than happy to help.
I take this opportunity to announce the roles available at the next chapter meeting on 18 Oct 2012 as well as invite members to indicate their interest in the respective roles. I am also pleased to inform that Yew Run Bin has agreed to share her superb evaluation skills by taking on the role of PE and our newest member Ronnie Wang has offered to be table topics master.
Roles available:
a.            2 Speaking Slots
b.            2 Project Evaluator Roles
c.             Toastmaster of the Evening
d.            Sergeant-At-Arms
e.            Timer
f.             Ah-Counter
Look forward to an enthusiastic response and another fantastic chapter meeting with the invaluable contributions from the members of Tampines Changkat! Thanks and regards,

Tampines Changkat TMC Chapter Meeting - 4 October 2012

Ladies and gentlemen,

What a fantastic chapter meeting on 20 Sep 2012 with a record number of guests visiting our club.

I am sure they were in for a great treat, with such superb hosting skills by our TME Yew Run Bin, fantastic speeches by our prepared speakers and such insightful and spot on evaluation by the speech evaluators.

And also who can forget the much thought provoking table topics by Sana Zafar.

That is what Tampines Changkat is about and aren't we all grateful for being a part of this great club.

It would also be opportune to compliment Magdalene Thia for successfully snatching the Best Evaluator Ribbon in her maiden evaluation. Congrats!

Its time to prepare for another great meeting on 4 October 2012. A meeting can only be as great as the amount of interest, enthusiasm and contribution from the members.

Thanks and regards,
