397th Chapter meeting on 10Feb11

Don't you agree we had a really fun-filled chapter meeting on 10 feb2011!?
Let us now recap the happenings...

The Sergeant at arms, Ulysses kick-start the meeting with an abstract question of the day, "Life is like a ?" that left us deep in thoughts. We had great answers such as, "Life is like a boomerang, whatever you throw comes back to you." "Life is like a blank piece of paper, you decide what you want to write on it." Wow! I didn't know our members can be so philosophical.

Going to the prepared speeches, Runbin gave a living Eulogy of her husband, Kevin as she completes her AP2. In her speech, she mentioned the little things about Kevin, which melted all our hearts. I didn't know Kevin is afraid of cockroaches! Indeed, love is the the greatest act of humankind.

JinSen taught us the 5 ways in which you can be the best salesman. His confidence and authoritative tone made me felt like i am listening to a real salesman speak. Thank you JinSen for the mini course on salesmanship, i learnt alot.

Angela shared with us the power of ASKING. Using her own experiences, she illustrated to us the wonders of asking. What a great lesson of life, if you do not ask , you never know what is the outcome. you will be amazed at the results, just like how Angela did.

Coen, the well-deserving best speaker of the evening, coincidentally had an almost similar speech title to Angela, "The power of story-telling." Coen captivated us with his story and using Subway as an example, he demonstrated the prowess of stories in marketing.
Fellow toastmasters, do take note of the tip! learn to incorporate stories in your speeches and you will have all the attention you ever want from the audience.

Ulysses clinched the title of the best table topic speaker with his speech about 'bounty.' He shared the amazing story about how his friend had attain his 'bounty' of enlisting later by losing weight. An inspiring story that teaches us to work hard towards getting our bounty in life.

Most importantly, I am so proud to learn that we have 3 new members joining our big family at the last chapter meeting. WELCOME! Esther, Raymond and Ulysses !

Dear members and friends, If you have missed out all the actions this chapter meeting, fret not. The next meeting is just a week away on 24/2/2011. look forward to seeing everyone there !
