A few days ago, Tampines Changkat Toastmasters had its 425th Chapter Meeting, not only that, we added two more new members to the family! We also announced the winner of Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Most Improved Toastmasters Award. Ted Chong, our club's very own VPE came out on top! Congratulations TED! You deserved it! Loved the speech btw!
We had 2 visiting Toastmasters, both left the meeting winners, Wenjie from NUS Toastmasters won the Best Prepared Speech Award, while Linda Lee from AIA Changi won the Best Evaluator Award. Wenjie touched us with her beautiful yet inspiring speech, "Hold on to your dreams and follow intuition" while Linda impressed us with her breathtaking singing whilst evaluating!
Also, Gurmit demonstrated a few stretching exercises in his P5, while Jane, in her P4, taught us how we should not lend money to anyone, unless we are willing to forgo the relationship. Of course, attempting to complete his CC manual for the third time, Coen, shared with us how toastmasters, saved his dreams.
The Table Topics was also rather exciting and it was a very close fight! All the speakers were rather good in my opinion. It had me in "reflection mode" as some of the speeches were quite meaningful. Of course, the winner was none other than Boon Seong, who won the table topics at his first attempt. It was a boon that his name was the word of the day! (boon & bane)
Also our meeting as described by one of our members if you missed it;
' My friend Boon Seong was nervous and said he wasn't prepared to tackle table topic. But I begged him on anyway. 1 minute 30 seconds later, he came off stage an improved person and even won the Best Table Topic Speaker Ribbon. Moral of Story for everyone: Your growth in Toastmasters is defined by simple moments of breakthroughs like this!'
And yes it was my first time as Toastmaster of the Evening (with a record 56 pause fillers!), and I hope everyone enjoyed the meeting. Our next chapter meeting will be on the 19th April 2012 @ 7pm. Do drop by!
I leave you all with a momento (see below) specially done by Linda Lee, a visiting toastmaster from AIA Changi, which captured all the ribbon and award winners! Congrats to everyone. And definitely a pleasure having you at our meeting Linda :)
Warmest Regards,
